Ah, well, you need to "upgrade"; at the MIM, in PHX, the promoter sez exactly that, and then takes the phones/devices away if violations occur...I've never seen what you describe.

But, you pay ~ $ 40, and only see "smaller, geezer circuit" sorts...no "big" names.

Yeah, but the MIM is one of the best acoustic venues in the area. No "big" name as you say, but the constant line-up of quality musicians is impressive. Mickey, Bela Fleck, Jackie Greene (coming this June), JD Souther, Chick Corea in addition to the two HT shows. Love that place.
